About Claws & Disorder
After years of telling my children we absolutely, positively could not get cats… I gave in.
We got two cats.
A perfectly reasonable number of cats.
Unfortunately, shortly afterward, the Cat Distribution System (CDS) selected us for additional processing, and we found Romeo living under my van. After that came several moments of poor self-control, questionable logic about “bonded pairs,” and one truly disastrous series of shelter visits that somehow resulted in four more cats in approximately six hours.
By the end of the following year, our veterinarian gently informed me that I had officially crossed into “crazy cat lady” territory.
At that point, we had ten cats.
(Technically eleven over the years, though one very loved cat was lost to illness.)
At one point, the county animal shelter advised me that if I acquired any additional registerable pets, I would officially qualify as a kennel and require a special license, which honestly feels less like a warning and more like an achievement badge.
So naturally, I started a blog.
Claws & Disorder is a chronicle of life in a deeply chaotic multi-pet household featuring:
- ten cats
- one long-suffering dog
- three reptiles
- endless fur
- ongoing negotiations over lap space
- and at least one orange cat operating without consistent access to the shared brain cell
This blog exists partly to entertain myself, partly to document the absolute nonsense that happens in this house, and hopefully to help other slightly cat-obsessed people navigate the realities of multi-cat living.
You’ll find:
- cat stories
- household chaos
- product reviews
- multi-cat household tips
- questionable pet-related decision-making
- lots of photos
- occasional videos
- and honest opinions about what actually works when your home contains more animals than common sense
Welcome to the chaos.
The cats already own everything here anyway.
